Legacy Troubleshooting

Legacy Rise Client troubleshooting: sound, OpenGL errors, macOS launcher issues, and Linux launch problems.

Common Legacy fixes from the HowToRise tutorials. Keep NextGen troubleshooting separate.

  1. Open Minecraft.
  2. Go to Settings → Audio.
  3. Ensure volume sliders (Master, Music, Ambient, and others) are not muted.
  1. Obtain Sound Pack.zip from Legacy support channels (Discord attachment links expire quickly; do not use unofficial client mirrors).
  2. Place it in the Minecraft resourcepacks folder.
  3. In-game: Settings → Resource Packs, enable the pack, save, and return to the game.
  1. Obtain the same sound pack zip from Legacy support channels.
  2. Open the zip with 7-Zip, Bandizip, or similar. You should see an assets folder.
  3. Rise Launcher: open the launcher folder (contains start.bat or start_Macos.sh), open files, then open Standalone.jar as a zip.
  4. Drag the pack’s assets folder into the root of Standalone.jar (not into a subfolder). Choose Merge if prompted—not Replace.
  5. Third-party launcher: instead of steps 3–4, locate Rise.jar under your Minecraft versions folder, for example:
    • Windows Minecraft Launcher: AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/versions/Rise/Rise.jar
    • macOS Minecraft Launcher: ~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft/versions/Rise/Rise.jar
  1. Open Minecraft → Options.
  2. Open Video Settings → Others.
  3. Turn off Show GL Errors and save.

If the newer Rise Launcher on macOS crashes (including some JRE/JDK crashes), reset launcher data:

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Press Cmd + Shift + G.
  3. Go to ~/Library/Application Support/.
  4. Delete the Rise folder.

This resets launcher data and cached files. Upstream note: only the newer launcher included the latest update at the time of that tutorial.
