Legacy Rise Client installation: Rise Launcher or third-party launchers on Windows, macOS, and Linux for Minecraft.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Install Legacy from vantage.rip, then launch with the included Rise Launcher when you can. Third-party launchers need extra JVM arguments and a Rise JSON profile.
Prefer Rise Launcher
Section titled “Prefer Rise Launcher”When you download Legacy from Vantage, use the Rise Launcher packaged with it. That path avoids most third-party JSON and argument setup.
Third-party launchers (Windows and others)
Section titled “Third-party launchers (Windows and others)”If you use Minecraft Launcher, HMCL, or another launcher instead of Rise Launcher:
- Add the JVM arguments documented on Configuration.
- Install the Rise
.jsonprofile for that launcher (see Configuration — Rise JSON).
Platform tabs
Section titled “Platform tabs”- Download Legacy from vantage.rip.
- Run the included Rise Launcher when available.
- If you use a third-party launcher, apply JVM arguments and the Rise JSON.

Always obtain the Rise client itself from vantage.rip.
- Download the macOS x86 patch package: Google Drive · Backup.
- Place the zip in the same directory as
Start MacOS ARM.shfrom your Rise package. - Open Terminal and
cdinto that directory. - Run
unzip rise-macos-x86-patch.zip. - Start with
./start-macos-x86.sh.
Use this patch when:
- The console shows
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError(seen on some distros such as Fedora). - You cannot join servers due to a Netty error when using 1.8.9 Netty with Java 21 (not Rise-specific). Another workaround is setting
useNativeTransporttofalseinoptions.txt.
- Download the Linux x64 patch: Google Drive · Backup.
- Move the zip into the Rise directory (same folder as scripts such as
Start MacOS ARM.sh). - Open a terminal and
cdinto that directory (example:cd "Downloads/Rise v6 New"). - Run
unzip rise-linux-x64-patch.ziponce. - Start with
./start-linux-x64.sh.
